Nintendo lidera la lista de nominados con 15 nominaciones en todas sus propiedades, seguido por Sony Interactive Entertainment/PlayStation con 13 nominaciones, Xbox (incluyendo Bethesda y Blizzard) con 10, y Epic Games, el editor third party más nominado, con 9. Los nominados son seleccionados por un jurado global compuesto por más de 100 medios de comunicación e influyentes de todo el mundo.
The Game Awards 2023 se transmitirá en vivo de forma gratuita a través de más de 30 plataformas digitales de video diferentes, incluyendo YouTube, Twitch, Steam, Facebook, TikTok Live, X, WeChat, Bilibili, Huya, DouYu, Xiaohongshu e Instagram Live. Los espectadores podrán participar a través del servidor oficial de Discord, votando por los nominados antes de la gala y uniéndose a la watch party en directo el 7 de diciembre para ver la entrega de premios y reaccionar a los ganadores en tiempo real.
La votación para elegir a los ganadores en todas las categorías estará abierta hasta el 6 de diciembre a las 18:00 h, horario del Pacífico. También se ha presentado “Twitch Predicts The Game Awards”, una nueva extensión que permite a los espectadores elegir a sus favoritos para los Game Awards del 7 de diciembre y emitir sus votos en cualquier emisión elegible a través de la extensión.
La ceremonia de The Game Awards se llevará a cabo en el Peacock Theater de Los Ángeles el jueves 7 de diciembre de 2023 e incluirá premios, anuncios de nuevos juegos en primicia mundial y actuaciones musicales a cargo de The Game Awards Orchestra, dirigida por Lorne Balfe. Las entradas para asistir en persona están disponibles para su compra.
